just started practicing on my spare junk '79 EK1 head. I've got pulling the valves down pat, I'll have to see how putting them back in goes.
I want to know when I take my good head in to have it tanked and magnifluxed I want to know, how do I remove the valve guides? I tried tapping them out but that only seemed to deform them. so what is the 'right' way to remove guides?
also, if I want to have large exhaust valves cut in:
a) how big should I go
b) how big of a pain in the ass is it to have them cut in
c) will this help prevent burning up the exhaust valves, the current set are toasted pretty crispy
and in terms of machining and polishing/porting for intake and exhaust, what is the easiest way to do that? just carefully use my die grinder on my air compressor? or is their a sandblaster way to do it? or is there some way even better.
thanks
Paul

first off, aluminum heads have to be pressure/die tested.(only cast iron or a magnatised material can be magnifluxed)
If you want to replace valveguides yourself, take the 'bare' head and heat in your oven at 250 for about an hour. Then take a air hammer and drive them out. (but remember how much they were sticking up out of the head) Drive the new ones in to the same depth. (I've used acura integra guides that were shorter!)
The valve size is another animal... Honda seats r hard to remove!! If you can go to a larger exhaust size that would help, but trying to find the 'right' valve is the hard part, but can be done.
