Which is better...a turbo charger...or a supercharger?
I've read about the jackson racing (eaton) supercahrger having the vacuum bypass which opens as the throttle is not way open. this will save the engines life while driving in the city...but I'm not sure if it'll have as much power as a turbo charger. Plus turbo chargers have turbo lag which is kinda gay. but superchargers are more expensive...and they only make them for most of the new engines (90-present). but I think all around the supercharger is better...(I have kinda a bias for superchargers..hehe)but turbos cool to...maybe both!!! hehe...jk
let me hear what you guys think...

i didnt know that turbos had dicks and could be gay?...hmmmmm,or maybe you need to deal with some personal issues.
i think farenheight needs to learn tolerance101, its around the corner from racism101, sexism101,
and idiot101...
please dont post here if your that stupid of a kid...

Kelly, what kinda remark is that? That was uncalled for. There is no basis for those remarks against farenheight101. Both him and Mo are locals of the vancouver area, and are probably just making humor or an inside joke. What the heck does tolerance, racism and sexism have ANYTHING to do with their posts? I think it is you who should not post here if you're that stupid of a kid.

basically, my whole car is gay. which is a joke of course, because i'm gay ..
however i was poking fun at f101 , in as light hearted a way possible, as i'm not so reasonably certain that 'gay turbo lag' was about anything other than an expression that doesn't know what it is ..

now, about my super faggy sidedraft carbs .. they really suck!
i'm so bad ..
bad bad bad ..

IMHO, the Weber down draft, jetted correctly, performs as well or better than the RS sidedrafts. And they're easier to tune and are tons more drivable.
As far as the ORIGINAL post goes, either turbo or superchargers make lots of power. It's just a matter of your budget and tuning skills.

i was confused, sorry,
im used to hearing "gay" as a negative conotation, as in "bad" or "undesireable", thats all, as a joke or whatever, it kinda offends me, thats all, thats where i was coming from. the racism, sexism deals are just an underlying themes to homophobia, and thats why i was trying to have tolerance, thats all, i try not to offend people, but i thought i was sticking up for some folks out there who might have been.....
sorry,and i apologize to all

kelly, you rock .. i got it ..
and yes, i'm having trouble dialing in my sidedrafts, thanks todd .. but i have the sidedrafts and like them, just need to get them set up .. so, any ideas?
as for underlying homophobia .. it sucks. everyone's got it .. even queers
except my supergay car. it's great.

Go4mo, start with the easy stuff. Spray some carb cleaner around the base plates and bodies to see if you have a vacumn leak.
Check the spark plugs. (black-rich, too clean-lean)
You didn't say what it's doing?
So, what's that Gay, sucking car doing wrong?

haaa haaa haa ...
errol .. ya kill me ..
well .. it idles a bit rough, chugs when given the smallest amount of gas, picks up fine & loves to run well from about 2000 and up, with a wee flat spot around 4500 ..
i'm wondering if this thing isn't jetted for a 1500 .. shawn (the guy i got them from ) said they were jetted for a 1200 , but even with a fuel pressure regulator (i have it dialed down to about 1.5 psi !) it seems rich.
i'm thinking of re-jetting .. plus i just picked up a new cam .. a fairly mild but noticeable grind ..
does anyone know the part number on the jets of a set of RS carbs?
thanks

Hi I'm Twyla, (Justin's wife) (2low2go) well speaking from experience.... the convertible has the turbo which is good but really lags off the start line but holy shit does it go once the turbo kicks in. Our Caravan is supercharged and the throttle response is awesome (but build the motor up before putting the charger on...our van lasted 2 hours before Justin cracked the pistons) the wagon has NOS and it's scary fast (Justin is not allowed to use it while i'm in the car) the only downside to the NOS is refilling the bottle at $80 a shot once a week. And my VW truck is now a 2.0 16v and it's N.A. Justin is not allowed to touch it (plus it goes very nicely as is)

The whole gay thing was fun to read... but supercharging a Dodge Caravan minivan! That blew my mind.

Yeah, Blame it on poor 2low!
Twyla, Is that the city turbo motor in the convert?
Mo, It sounds like it's running to rich! and at part throttle It's leaning. Pull off the aircleaner and try to look down the bores. (maybe with a mirror) Does it look like the slide is scuffing? One might be sticking or the rubber diaphram may be damaged somehow!
Now correct me if I beez rong, but Aren't these carbs of the "Kehnin" variety, like the early goldwings? I know that you can still get 'manuals' for the older Honda goldwings that give good exploded views!
Zippy, Those Chrysler V6's (if that's what it is?) are very compact and look alot more simple than the Legends V6. and with a 3.3, 3.5 that thing should scream. I've messed around with the idea of the Dodge Intrepid motor/tranny in a 914 Porsche (just because our Honda's don't have that much room behind the rear wheels to cover the tranny. It's a longetudinal(?) mounted aluminum V6 with a tranny that's only about 2 foot long. Just think, a mid engined civic with a 3.5 fuel injected 'all aluminum' V6 with a 4spd overdrive, 235hp (for the TSI package!) that still get's about 27mpg in a car that's almost double the weight of a early civic
Yes I've got IT bad

Errol, it is the city turbo convertible. The Caravan is a 84' but i put on the 90' turbo caravan front end and Big bumpers.Upgraded the interior to a 93' with Quad seating, The motor is from a 95' town & country(3.3 4sp with OD)We tried out the Eaton charger from a Ford Supercoupe. It ran 9 pounds, before i BLEW it!! It now has JE Pistons, Crowler rods, Hardned Crank,Port Matched intake/exhaust, 3-way valve grind, O-ringed block, and a lot more shit that i can't even remember!! And that's not to mention the full air-bag suspension, and 17" wheels...I know..I know, what was i thinking???

I 'always' stop for a little T&A!.... ooops.. OR did you mean stop for 'YA' yukity yuk.
I remember reading that they are really suseptable to trash or dust in the fuel. And after reading the thread again, if the slide was binding, it would be lean... right?
On the bottom of the slide is your needle that rests in the jet. Maybe the needles are wrong? or damaged? One guy/mechanic at a cycle shop told me that he always used to mess with extra needles to get them to run right. Even having different needles and jets in the same bank of carbs to get the bikes to run not good, but VERY good!
So it looks like It's just a 'tweaking' thing. Keep me posted. And I'll look at mine to see any numbers on the jets and needles
