it's a sealed beam H4, you can change it to a H4 replaceable style headlight such as: Hella, Toucan, Raybright, etc etc... I'll post a pic for ya!

Hay Justin, I got that GTI ('86). Its pretty nice, has a 2.0L block with the 1.8 head. Unfortunatly still a 8 Valve.. plan a 16 valve conversion. Now I got to sell the Tempo and the '87 Si. Anywho, I will have to come by sometime. How is Twyla's truck comin along? I take it, it's the MK1 body style? With a 1.8 or 1.6? Anywho. I would have e-mailed ya but lost your e-mail. And ya didn't post it.

What are you pickin on Fords for? :)
I think most cars are neet, some just more than others. I personaly cant get real excited about a Yugo, but take away all other brands and give me some time and maybe :)

I think a Yugo, with some huge flaired wheel wells, and some super sticky rubber would look pretty cool.

Hey, don't mess with the Yugo! I saw one at a rod and custom show that they had chopped the top on, and dropped in a 231 v6. The damn thing was ugly as sin, but it was one of the fastest cars there!

Not quite as ugly as a datsun F-10 or a renault le car though......aren't they in the same gt class as the civic?.....lol

Now don't get me wrong, I love all cars, but I find the 80's to current camaros as ugly as the day is long. And to my mind there are only a few truly beautiful cars out there, like the 49 mercury coupe, the shelby cobra, the 67 corvette l71, and the 67 mercury cougar xr7!

Well, I was never a fan of the '93 (?) and up Camaro's/firebirds until my younger brother picked up a low mileage '95 Firehawk. It's terrifyingly fast. I would dare anybody with a pre-Z06 Corvette to try and beat it. Everytime I drove it I got out shaking a bit from the adrenaline rush. Mid-12 sec 1/4 mile from a power chip, K&N and exhaust ain't bad (High 12 off the showroom floor).

The body style grows on you as you check out the Boxster-S and the M3 in the rear view mirror.

'bit off subject, but just my 2 bits.

Is it possible to convert 1200's H4 sealed beam to a non-sealed beam?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By mike adams (206.58.33.68) on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 - 07:54 pm:

Just check E-bay for a replacement kit. I got one for less than 20 bucks U.S. that way and they work great, they'll even send you the bulbs that are guaranteed not to burn out. They will, but they'll replace them if you ship them the bad one and pay to have a new one shipped to you. All in all the conversion kit is simple, fits in like the stock headlight but the back pulls off and a halogen bulb goes in, now both my civics, the 75 and the 93 use the same bulb. Try this one http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=599283942.

You can also buy H4 headlights through J.C.Whitney. These have a high cut off on the beam like modern headlights. This allows you to use a higher power bulb without upsetting oncoming traffic. BEWARE! 100 watt bulbs melted my combo switch, I had to wire up some relays to keep all that juice from melting the new one. My brother (Pontiac GTP) sent me a link for a harness, I'll look it up & add later. dennis

well I was lookin at some philips xenon conversion kits and they come with a started and a balast...so I don't think the wires on that would melt...
but the shitty thing is the price...$600 for a H4 coversion kit dammit!
...but they are sweet...I don't care about what other driver think of my headlights...they aren't shining in MY eyes...
hehe

For info on vehicle lighting in the US go to....

http://lighting.mbz.org/

There's some very good discussion on the merits (and demerits) of various types of lighting. Stern also sell conversions and driving lights.
