Hey everybody, I have a question. My 75 cvcc has cruise control, but the set controls are broken. Does anyone know if this is an aftermarket addition? My owners manual doesn't mention the cruise control. It's located on the turn signal arm. I'd like to find out if this was an option in 75 so that I can replace it and make it work. Cruise has saved my butt from speeding tickets since I tend to not pay attention to how fast i'm going on open road. Any info would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Find the control unit, it may have a clue as to the origin.

Ok, would this be connected to the transmission or somewhere else? I'm not sure how these units actually work, just that they do! Where would I find the control unit? My guess is tranny, am I even warm?

Follow the wires from the controls, they should lead under the dash to a box about 3" x 3".
Its most likely aftermarket.

It's definately aftermarket, no factory cruise in Civic's till '88. If it is a Dana unit with a 4-wire control, I probably have a switch for you. I used to install these years ago. It should have a small "brain box" under the dash, a magnetic pick-up near the axle with 2 magnets glued to the axle, & some kind of an off switch connected to the brake pedal. This can be either vacuum or electrical. The actuator is generally vacuum but later models were electrical. The hookup to the carb was the weak point, though some kits included an adapter that bolts to the end of the throttle shaft. I have a box of old parts I have saved for the Dana units as I still have one on my Mitsu p/u. If I dig deep enough I may even have the instruction/adjustment booklet. dennis

Is the ARA brand the same as Dana or are those separate? Seems all the old aftermarket systems I found are ARA.

ARA are different from Dana. ARA Also made aftermarket A/C systems that were quite popular here in Phoenix. dennis

Ok, good info, I still haven't gotten out to look for the brain yet, maybe tomorrow. I'll keep you posted in case I need anything!
