Does anybody know where i could get my hands on a city turbo engine I or II? I live in Adelaide, South Australia and i rang all the wreakers and they say they don't have any so any info on a source of engines would be great but preferable in South Australia or Australia.
Thanks
Chris

i have decided to go the "easier" or more easily scavenged parts i have a D16 engine in my garage out of my old mans car from his engine swap...but i decided to go that way instead i think it will run better that way because i am more familiar with the D or B series engines and even the F or H serieswhich is found in the newer accords and preludes

The problem I see with the city turbo swap is that if parts are hard to find now they are going to be scarce to non-existent in the future. The engine management system and sensors are what I would worry about.
I was just tossing some ideas around in my head; this is what I think may have some potential for parts and ease of installation.
A used turbo 2 setup will be around at least 3000 USD sitting in your garage from OZ? If you can find one!
So this is what I think may have some potential for USA civic folk.
Eb3 with 1300 crank, overbored if you dare, etc....... but with a single cannon side draft manifold with the TWM throttle body fuel injection http://www.twminduction.com/ThrottleBody/ThrottleBody2900.html
and there are lots of aftermarket engine management systems that could be used to drive this set up (most use GM sensors, so you can repair the car quickly if it ever has a sensor fail). You can still get a header for this and leave it naturally aspirated or fab your own exhaust and use a turbo. Its all a bolt in except for any turbo system you may decide to use.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the info on where to get a city turbo engine from. Boostboy do you know the names of the importers in Sydney or Melbourne that have the engine? How much does it cost for a city turbo I or II engine just approximately?
If anybody finds out about an engine and they don't want it could they either post the info here or email me at cjlthomas@hotmail.com
Cheers for all the info!!!!

Howdy,
I bought a City Turbo II motor from a place in sydney called Jap Performance at Moorebank. They had the hole city car for wrecking and i just took what i needed. I got the whole engine without wiring or computer (cause i already had it) for $750. But he said i could have the lot for $1250. The phone number is 02 9601 6715. I've got know idea if they have any more but it can't hurt to ring.

Peters Car (pictured above) now has a new owner in Sydney. I sold it to Angus Button and he ran a 12 second quarter mile on the secon day he had it. It has a similar motor to the one Don described above and at only 9psi of boost it pushed out over 150hp at the wheels. It also has massive negative camber (track setup) and an open diff. With increased traction and boost back up to 15psi, who knows. I dont know how the bored to 74mm liners and stock treated rods will cope with any more power though.

A twelve second quarter in an unfamiliar car is totally cool. Look out FWD drive record!
By Charles (203.111.1.66) on Friday, December 28, 2001 - 12:27 am: |
I dont think so Em, I have tried to tell him to forget any records unless he wants to pour even more money into it. Instead I suggested joining the HCCNSW and trying a few track days (that is what the car was built for). I am sure once he has a few goes he will be pretty addicted. He has 2 200hp+ hondas that both weight under 800kgs now.

Some people have all the fun...
A 12 second pass is very respectable anyway!
