Mo
it's the brakes (self adjusting) it's nothing to be worried about

It wouldnt be selfadjusting in a 1st gen civic they dont have self adjusters

Hey folks, I have the same problem with mine and was told by Justin (sorry Twyla!) that the aftermarket brake pads just dont fit as nicely as they should and therefore slide back and forth a bit but not to worry, as its just an annoyance.

Had the same problem, I just took my drums off and adjusted the brakes out to where I could barely get the drums back on and it took care of the problem.

The shoes also fit poorly if the drum has been turned down very much, as then the drum initally contacts the only center of the shoe. At least until the shoes wear into a full contact pattern.
And no there are no self adjusters on the first gen brakes...big reason to update to 2nd Gen design.
