Hey guys...
Right now in auto I'm in the middle of replacing a shot input bearing for a D16Z6 out of a 92 Civic SI.
I know this isn't a first gen but someone might have swapped one in or dealt with one before...

aaaanywayz...

my problem is that I have the tranny out and up on the bench. I unscrewed all the bolts that hold the tranny together, and it slips off like a centimeter and stops, like theres another bolt holding it together, but there isn't...we checked it all and experimented and it still won't budge. When you tip one half back and fourth it seems to pivot almost close to the center of the tranny. Do you think it would be stuck on the input shaft? Any help would be apreciated...

Thanks

Colin

Have you taken the nuts off the ends of the input and output shafts (the ones holding fifth gear on)?

I'm not sure what trans you've got but some have a snap ring holding the bearing in.

No bolts on the input shaft or anything...no snap ring either.
when I look in the end of the input shaft it looks likes theres an end of a long skinny bolt...
hmmmm...this is a pickle anit it?

I got it guys...it waws a snap ring after all...
it was on the very end of the input shaft inside the transmission...we had to take off this giant set screw and just hold the snap ring open then slide the top off...hehe...I looked in there before but I was like "theres nothing in there..." then my teacher looked in and noticed the snap ring

dammit...now I can't finish the job!!
its like this tranny has a curse.
we got down to ordering up the new bearning...they sent in the wrong ones twice which put 3 more days on the job...then today that terrible accident happened in auto while I was working on the tranny at the bench...
my freind simon was working on the teachers 75 (I believe) ford pickup...and it was up on the hoist about 5 feet up. It must've been too heavy because one of the cables snapped and the front tires of the truck dropped off the front and simon got crushed between the hoist and the bottom of the truck...dam...
I'm still all shaky about it...it happened like 15 feet behind me...all I heard was a huge crash. Simon was cool...he was the only other person in the class who liked honda's...everyone else laughs at them but they don't know thier full potential...
simon had an 86 CRX that he just fixed from sliding into curb. dam...he was a good mechanic to...
I'm sure local BC people heard about the accident at Centennial.

now I can't finish the 92 civic tranny cause semester ends this week and there isn't auto tomorrow anymore...
well I think I'll try and go in on my own time and finish it...

RIP simon...

Colin
