well, I blew my head gasket the other day. Sounds like a good time to do some head work. What do you guys recommend. My uncle said he would port it out a little if i brought it to him, and he knows a good machine shop to get it milled. Is an ek1 a good engine to port (this the the 81 w/ 2 port exhaust) or would that weaken it too much. I just thought it would be good to ask before i let him at it. other than this little problem my civic is comming along nicely, nothing like justin's yet.... but i am working on it :) I am in greenville, SC and would like to know if there is any one else around this area that i could show off my car too. Most people around here laugh at me and call me crazy for investing soo much in a cheap little car. I would love to see some fellow 1st and 2nd gens, I really like to see what other people have done to their cars. The more ideas the better, right?? I need to get some pics of my car so you guys can see it, I will work on that sometime, but tell me what you guys think about the head. thanks!

Don't even try and 'work' with that early EK head. Get a 81 EK head and port that! (it's the 4-port design) If you don't have one I think I do, I got good results porting mine with the stock carb.

i do believe it is an 81 ek. I think they had both 4 and 2 port that year. I have made some calls and it seems i might have some problems getting one, so if you could look that would be great. Another question, is the intake all the same, i don't have to get another manifold right?? thanks

I'm fairly certain the 82-83 Accord EK1 all had the 4-port head, why wouldn't it bolt to his block?

Different head bolt pattern, also different valve order. Early EK1 from 79-81, Honda changed it in the 82-83 EK1.

YUP.. You da man! I'm already making plans to get the head sent out for a massage. There are plenty of late model EK1 blocks around here too.
