Thanks for the work last week, it really was appreciated. Its nice to be able to drive without worring about the car jumping lanes by itself! And also another thanks to....mustang boy! Keep me posted on the 77. Puff

Hey Justin....(or anyone)

I was wondering if you know what calipers and rotors were the best to use with the 4x100 conversion. I was thinking CRX Si, but Adrian says that " '92ish " civic rotors would be best, as they are larger in diameter and thicker. The problem is he's not sure. I finally have the time and $$$ to do the 4x100 swap, and I want the best I can afford. How much would one have to spend to get some of those cool braided lines? Can you make them for the rear too? Thanks for your help.....Eric

I'm using 92 Civic rotors and calipers - they work fine and very easy and cheap to locate. I think I paid about $70AUD for the lot.

I didn't say 92ish Civic brakes are better, all I said was they would also work. They are about 2mm larger diameter and thicker than the CRX rotors. The extra diameter is nothing and the extra thickness won't do anything except add extra weight. I'd go for the CRX rotors as they are lighter and will give exactly the same performance with a car this light.

Hey Adrian...

Interesting.....it does sound to me like the CRX brakes would be better if they are lighter. I heard that unsprung weight is a bad thing.....I guess price and avaliability will be the determining factors. Hell the CRX calipers were like 21 bucks each, with a $20 core if they will take my accord calipers, that adds up to $1 each :D. I will let you know what I come up with. Thanks for your help.

Eric, What Knuckle are you going with? I have designed a bracket that bolts to the 1200 Knuckle and gives you the larger bolt pattern for any caliper from 80' to 02', if it's possible find yourself some wagon front knuckles(already have the larger spacing!) I have used 92 and newer on the last swap, my wagon has integra calipers and i'm now going with the SIR set-up, the convertible is still 4x120 but i'm converting it over to get better braking and then i'm going with nsx calipers. I can make up brake lines for you aswell(do a keyword searh "vtec")and you can see the rear disc set-up there)

Hey Justin...

I got '79 civic wagon knuckles. You say the bolt patern is the same up to '02?......well that makes things alot more open.....I wonder if you could even do a 5-lug conversion using late model accord parts. I think a civic would look bitchin' with some cragar s/s's or american racing torque thrusts. What's special about the nsx calipers?....I saw the rear disc setup *sweet*, but I think I'm going to go with '80 wagon rear drums. Could you make some braided lines for those? By the way, what booster/master cylinder are you using? I was thinking of using one from a CRX to go with the system if I can get it to work. Also, do you change the line setup to work front-back instead of diagonally? Would I need to fool with the front-rear bias at all or is the setup alright using the stock bias? Thanks for your help.......Eric

Eric, your lucky! Their has been only one wagon at the local wrecker's in all the years i've been going there!!Accord are still 4 bolt (4 on 4 1/2)the integra/prelude are 5 bolt. The nsx calipers are all alluminum(just a little more trick than stock stuff)You can use braided lines on the rear drums(but it's not really necessary)I'm using the factory wagon booster/master. The stock bias works great! No need to change anything!

Yeah, I had trouble finding wagon parts too. I ordered them from some company in the phone book......lol. I just hope that the auto parts store will take my old parts as exchanges for the new ones.....lol. The project is stalled for now....I want to find a motor before putting the brakes on. I'll let you know how it goes........Thanks......Eric

Hey Justin

When you did the city turbo conversion, did you
1. Use the city bottom engine mount OR
2. Use the civic bottom engine mount

Can you please explain exactly the modifications you had to make to the bottom engine mount and/or cross member.
Because at the moment my engine is sitting to high.

Thanks

Hey again Justin....

I need your e-mail so I can ask you some questions on the rear disc conversion. I think that the '80 wagon drums are too much work....Your rear disc conversion sounded much simpler but I need some specifics. Thanks.......Eric

the part that is too high is probably just the plenum chamber on the throttle body. A custom one needs to be made in the case of using a type 2 city turbo motor.

I went with all of the original 1200(76') mounts..the problem is probably your intake plenum as described above :)

Eric my email is: twylajustin@home.com

Hey Justin
My 75 1200 bottom engine mount does not fit as it hits the flywheel guard at the bottom. I know about the plenum being to high.

You can space it over with a few washers! :)
