the cable in my 79 1200 is shot. will a cable fit from another year civic or accord? i dont have much time to hunt the junkyard, so maybe someone has done this before.

any cable from a first gen civic will work! Check your local dealer, i actually found one at mine and it was in stock.

thanks, but i was also thinking of later year civics as there are no first gens in my local junkyard. i will call the dealers though.

Local parts store should have aftermarket ones too. Mine broke a while back and I was able to get a replacement at Kragen Auto Parts for about $15.
