A final Cycle Cross ride to prepare me for the P2A Race Paris to Ancaster race. I could have picked some better weather than last weekend’s workout.
It was about 8 Celsius and very strong wind gusts that would blow you off course if you let it. I would do some straight out and back easy 20 kilometers to get my legs warmed up before I would hit the trails to mix it up. The workout would consist of roads, gravel and paved trails, wooden bridges, hill climbs, culverts and lots of single track with sandy trails to make it interesting. No way I could go 56km without having to make my was through some mud.
I headed east directly into the wind before turning around at about 12km mark before I headed north to Greenwood Forrest. On my was I would get some good speed on a tightly packed gravel trail with some raised wooden bridges and a bit of black peat mud. I had hoped to take one other trail along the way but found it was very busy with do walkers.
I had planned on doing one major hill climb along the way as it would be a good test on a pot hole ridden, speed bumped hill.
