humm I'm looking but there is so much to look through.
My reason for going big brakes is looks and parts availability. maybe get some drilled /slotted rotors. The closest wrecker with first gen/2ns gen is 7 hours away. (that i know of) so i like the idea of using parts i can get for cheap. The tires i have might need to go anyway they are 4/108 . im all over the map with this project
-go front /rear disc (92 civic)
-find wagon knuckles and do the Honda blade conversion (looks hard to find though)
-if i want to go to the track and burn stuff up it would be nice to newer stuff for spare parts
-i have an 88 legend i could use the master and booster from and see how the rear discs mount up
-but i like the will wood reverse mount unit (being i need a clutch peddle and want to go hydraulic + it gets rid of all the other stuff)
-keep it with what i have and not travel to far from home lol
and for the big tires affecting braking distance on a lite car i never thought of it like that (more contact more grip was my thought)
I will take your word for it

A common misconception is that wider tires = larger contact patch.

The only factors that affect the size of the contact patch are how much weight is on the tyre (varies from corner to corner) and how much air you have in it. Wider tires will give you a shorter, wider contact patch, narrower tires give a longer skinnier contact patch but the actual area is the same.

As far as big brakes go, I have to completely disagree with Pete on that one. I used standard brakes for years (completely rebuilt with good pads) and they are ok. Do a few laps of a short track with several hard stops and you'll run out of brakes before long (I've had them billowing smoke at times).
The big brakes are FANTASTIC. Heaps more stopping power, later braking, far less fade. Unless for some reason I was to put together a completely original car or the rules don't permit them, I'll put big brakes on every Civic I play with.

Wagon knuckles turn up from time to time if you keep an eye open. I picked up a couple of pairs last year.

If you can't find any then I'd just use the caliper adapters.
You can use Jay's setup or my personal preference is 242mm rotors as used on the CRX and a few other models together with CRX or similar calipers. For the road car I'm planning I intend to use discs at the back as well. Mainly because I've not done them before and I like making stuff work, plus there is the bling factor :D . The race car has EN wagon (larger than the hatch) drums at the back and will stay that way.

Just a few questions to make sure
-1st gen knuckles wagon ?
-civic s calipers-is that any second gen caliper and if not what model to search for?
-will the 242mm fit in a 13"wheel?
sorry for the questions im dyslexic and this all runs together
I like blackbullets (is that jay)set up. my concern is the calipers they are not something i can go grab at a yard or parts store same with the pads i know i can get blade discs but they were never sold here so if i warped one not likely but still
and 88+ honda i can get all day long
+getting stuff shipped to canada can be robbery
I tend to over think stuff its not going to be daily driver

I've got 88 CRX calipers with 242mm rotors on the race car and I've had 13" steel wheels from a 3rd gen Civic on it for a dirt motorkhana.

Yes. US/Canadian 1st gen wagon.
For some reason our (Australian) 1st gen wagons have the same front brakes as the hatches so if you happened to see someone advertise them here, don't bother with them, just look in your part of the world.

Hi all, I thought I would share where I'm at with the car. I'm attempting to put a B18 motor swap in the little guy.

The transmission sticks out 1-1/8 from the inner fender I'm not sure if i will have any issues with steering.
I'm waiting for mounts and a under drive pulley to show up before I can go any further, that's all for now.
