Steph's '78 1200
Very lucky!
Oh yeah, I'll take a side photo tomorrow. I've set it up fairly low, like very low...
I set it up exactly like this photo, with the rear struts set up so they're 10mm up from being flush with the base, and the front is on the lowest setting (standard length struts), fitted with 4kg springs up front, which feel stiff IMO, way stiffer than the old struts, which were replaced about 3 years ago. The amazing thing, for me that is, is that I've often wondered why my Watanabe 8-spoke F8 wheels stuck out up front, and were ~10mm too far inside the back wheel arches, but now that the car is lowered, the front wheels sit perfectly inside the front wheel arches, with the edges rolled, and the rear is a perfect fit also, with the edges rolled. Without all the wheel-arches rolled, and 185/60R13s fitted, there would certainly be contact in the rear, but the front tires may just clear.

Booked the car in for paint on the 15th of August, so I have 2 weeks to strip-out the engine bay. I have to trial-fit the dual-Dellorto intake, just to be sure it clears, as otherwise I'll have to get medieval with an angle grinder, and trim the metal lip. I'll also trial-fit the radiator.

Re: Steph's '78 1200
Thanks August, it should really start to take shape over the next couple of months. It should be ready some time during spring, as long as the engine doesn't take too long getting rebuilt. Thanks to Linc, I have a 5-speed ready to fit, I just need the engine to match. I also have new ancillaries. I'm hoping I can find a mobile hard-brake-line outfit that can replace all the brake lines with shiny new ones.

Surely a nice shiny new paint job needs some new shiny roof trim ;).

Re: Steph's '78 1200
OK, I thought this was an odd comment when I first read it, off-topic, so to speak, and initially I thought I'd leave it until tomorrow to respond. While I was working on my car today, Adrian's post kept rattling around in my head, and suddenly I wondered, "are there NOS roof strips available that I hadn't heard about"? So I just found the thread, and I'm definitely in! Sooo cool.EvoCivic wrote:Surely a nice shiny new paint job needs some new shiny roof trim ;).

Cheers for that Jay!Blackbullet wrote:Looking great Steph, top quality as allways
I've tried to keep myself in check on this project, and not forget this is supposed to be my primary form of transport, but last night while I was stripping out the engine bay I realised something, I have to buy a second car. :P
I only have a single garage, so I'll get something I won't mind having to park in the street, or using it for side-swiping idiots in their nice new cars!

Re: Steph's '78 1200
I just had a thought, I'm going to ask how much it would cost to paint the car metallic orange (same as the Focus etc.). I know there's some inside painting as well, but it's the colour I always thought I would painted it when, and if I ever had it fully resprayed. There's a bit of a contra deal going on too, because they need a website, so I'm thinking a show-quality respray is in order. :P
I haven't been this excited about the Civic in ages! Hang on... I think I may being going manic, look out
