What is the best approach with this support beam? :)

best obviously is to replace it with a used good part.
You can cut out the rust and weld in a patch panel. or just weld a plate in over the whole area after cutting out the rusted metal.

This is a classic Honda problem, and they are hard to find. I gave up up on finding a replacement and had a local welder patch it. Honda had a recall for these in the 80's. You can't buy the cross member new anymore. You can try junkyards, but many cross members at junkyards look worse then yours.

I hope someone on the site can come through with a replacement. I took the wire wheel to the crossmember and the rust is looking worse. :)
