Front end engine cross members

Post by Meldge »

Hey Guys,

I have a 74 I'm building and have a 78 parts car. Can I pull the front subframe and control arms from the 78 to fit the 74? Are they swappable?

I will be removing the 74 soon to remove lower half of the firewall bracket and so on and I thought just in case I damage control arms that I'd probably find the bushed version easier than the welded version. So at the same time I might swap them over if possible.

Thankyou Sir.

Whilst it does mean more bushes to purchase I assume there are more bushed control arms then welded so it should be a wise change.

Indeed. The early EB1 one-piece control arms are a lot scarcer than the later ones.
