Today I'm on a shopping spree for parts for my Civic. I'm going to pick up some needed missing parts for my 78 Civic 1200 from a person the board here.
Getting a heater box, bumper struts, grille, and a chrome trim piece.

Also buying a donor car. I'm buying this,

And putting this,

in here.

I was already given a motor for the project, but a lot of stuff was missing, such as the exhaust manifold, distributor, and the computer. So by buying a complete car, I get all that and can test the motor while running. Plus I'm gonna use the entire wiring harness in my 78 Civic.

The transmission in the donor car has a hydraulic clutch, I'm gonna be using a cable activated clutch in my swap. Which I happened to get for Christmas! My wife was not thrilled to find out the big heavy present under the tree was a "dirty old transmission" that my son got me.

It came out of a 88 CRX Si.
I can really start tearing into this project, now that I have most of the major components.

What are you going to do with the donors car body :(

After the car is stripped of what I need from it, (motor, wiring harness, computer, etc) the rest of the parts will be sold off to help cover the cost of buying the car. And actually I already have someone who wants the shell to replace their rusted out one.

Not really a new direction. I was always planning on putting in a D16z6. I was given a free one, but it was just the engine. I needed all the extra stuff too though. The computer etc. Having a running car makes it easier to have the extras and to test the engine first before yanking it out.

Started stripping the parts car today. What a better way to spend new years day?

Started with the wiring harness today. I'm pulling the entire wiring harness from the 93 Civic donor car, and using it in the 78 Civic. Including the wiring all the way back to the tail lights. I'm just labeling everything as I unplug it so I'll know where to lay it out in the car.

Wiring harness finally out!

Layed out roughly how it was in the car.

Amazing how much I had to remove just to get all the wiring out. It sounded much easier in my head.

Now onto the easy part, popping out the motor.

You'll have lots of fun in your Civic when you get done. When I first saw the picture of the donor car (which looks MUCH better than my daily driver) I  I also spy a big hole in the passenger floor?!
