I got some more parts painted finally. I also noticed my neighbor has a 78' civic, covered in pine needles. I talked to his mom today because he is away this weekend. Will try and score this fine parts car. not much to look at, but it does have a mint front gravel pan I could use and a standard trans. The gear shift says 5 speed, but I wasn't able to get a real good look to see if that really was what it is. I'm sure there will be a few more useful things left on the car tho. will definitely keep you all posted. I will put a call into him on Tuesday. Oh ya I almost forgot, took the head off of the motor today will be taking it to the machine shop tomorrow. Kinda feel like I'm jumping into the deep end of a pool, trying to learn to swim with this whole motor part of the build.

It feels like I have soooo much to do before I will get to see all of the big picture put back together. Certainly teaching me patience.

More paint work

Was able to get a few more parts painted today :D Also took the head into the machine shop this week. There wasn't much wrong with it, other then a few leaking intake valves and suggested valve guide replacements. Ended up ordering a re-mand head. Haven't been able to get it yet. Should be ready to go on Monday :D $490.0 latter. :shock:

Got the head back today :D I noticed that the rocker arm/valve clearance adjustment wasn't set. Is this supposed to be done with the head on the block? Also is a puller needed to take the camshaft pulley off? I would like to remove it for paint.

Started on the trans today! Very tedious. Stopped sanding at 1000 grit wet and did a sample polish and the end. Will be a lot of work to make it look shiny. Also painted the head and oil pan.

Nice work. I've been doing a lot of the same kind of work lately so it's fresh in my mind how much work goes into it. I stopped way short of where you did with my trans but I did get it nice and clean. Looking forward to the finished product.

So how did you finish it up? I saw where you said you were using really fine paper, wet I imagine, so what came after that?

I love polishing metal, and plastics too! :)
