Cool project, are you going to daily drive it when kits finished? Will it be painted the same color?


Steph, do you daily drive yours? ( sorry for the off topic, I daly drive mine too which reminds me i have to post pics of it soon :P )

Well.... It will most likely be a summer nice day driver only. I'm striving to have it complete for next summer (to be realistic), and plan to take it to as many shows as I can get to :wink:

I 'daily drive' mine, but I'm really careful with it, like I'll walk a distance rather than park it in the sun, or somewhere like a large shopping complex, and I'll structure my driving around the weather, like if it's raining, I'll wait 'till it stops and dries out before going out. If it get's wet while I'm driving, I have a pile of towels in the garage that I use to dry it everywhere, like under the hood (hood), and everywhere water stores. I even have a fan heater that I set to blow underneath for about half an hour with a timer! I know, I'm excessive, but I don't want to promote any rust. I applied an extra thick coating of that tar/body deadener to the wheel wells when the suspension was replaced, and I also applied it to the rear underside of the car, under the spare wheel etc. The rest was all looking good and intact, but I still have about 2 litres left, so I'll eventually do that as well. It states on the can that it acts as rust prevention, and I used it everywhere in the wheel wells, like overhead inside the guard (fender), so nothing was left exposed to the elements. I used a paint brush, but really it acted more like a spatula than a brush, coz the stuff is very thick, like thicker than grease.

Since I did my back in, I haven't been back to work, so the car has been travelling about 20 kilometres per week, so I guess 'daily driver' doesn't really apply. End of thread-jack, sorry. :oops: :P

No worries about jacking my build thread :lol: I was just reading your thread about the Honda decals, and heard about your back. Hope that is working out for you in the best. I don't think I would be to far off of the "particular detail cleaning" that you do after you drive your car. mine isn't even complete yet. But the lengths i feel I'm going with build.... I just wont want it to get to dirty :lol:

I really have to steer myself back to one project and finish it, but I keep getting other things that grab my attention! I still haven't finished my exhaust, and I'm thinking I might just go down to the exhaust shop and get them to fit it. That would be one way to get at least one project finished, although I'd prefer to do it myself, as that was always my intention... oh well, being injured makes it difficult to roll around under a car on axle stands. :roll:

Surely it's not comfortable lying on axle stands when under a car :shock: :roll: :lol: :?:
personally, I use a mechanic's creeper board, not axle stands. i put the car on those :wink:

Has the tinned Mustang landed yet?

Seems Its easier for life to get in the way then it is to get any work done on my civic lately. I have managed to make some progress tho. The engine bay is still a work in progress. I have got most of the welding up front all rapped up and getting ready to move on to the rockers.

Did some work on the rear suspension this week. Haven't got a chance to do the gas tank yet. Here is some pics.

Made some more progress today. Started to strip the car of it's old laquer paint. and started to piece together the rear suspension. here are some pics!
