Windshield removal Gasket Seal
so i need to remove my broke arse windshield, and i cant figure out exactly how to get it out. i dont wanna mess up my rubbers, cause im guessing i wont find any more ever again.

If the glass is not to be re-used, pull out the locking strip, sit in the passenger seat, put both feet on the glass in the top corner and push hard, it will come out without harming the rubbers.
Does not go back in as easily, though.
IF IT IS LAMINATED GLASS, WATCH OUT FOR FINE GLASS SLIVERS AT ALL STAGES, THEY WILL FESTER AND BE UNCOMFORTABLE, PARTICULARLY IN THE EYES, SO WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES
It takes me less than 2 minutes to remove a screen, lots of practice on our comp cars and we always do it as above.
Does not go back in as easily, though.

To get the screen out in one piece, this is what I do.
I cut the rubber on the donor car by putting a very sharp blade between the glass and the rubber and go around the screen, cutting to under the locking bead or right through ideally.
This removes all the rubber holding the screen. When you can see the edge of the glass all the way around, just very carefully lift the glass clear with a little assistance from inside.
Next get back to your own car and remove th broken glass without cutting the rubber, pull out the locking strip and bead and clean all the bits up .
Call a professional to put the laminated glass back in. Do not attempt it yourself unless you know what you are doing. I do and can still crack them, they get embrittled over the years and will crack at the slightest twist.
Just my advice :shock: , feel free to do your own thing
I won't say ''told you so'' when you break it.

Removal: If the weatherstrip is not needed, cut it flush with the window, if it's needed, then remove the moulding in the middle of the weatherstrip, then, with soapy water and a few delrin "bones" LIKE THIS, gradually push/pull the window out of the weatherstrip from the inside, lubrictation is the key.
Installation: Have the windshield upside down on a stand, install the weatherstrip all the way around the glass. You will need a piece of "parachute" string LIKE THIS BUT 1/8" the distance of the circumference of the weatherstrip + 4FT. Install the rope starting at a top corner of the weatherstrip/windshield, place the rope in the slot that will go over the pinchweld leaving at least 2ft of string at the beginning and the end. (this rope will be pulled later) Have some help placing the window with the weatherstrip and string on the windshield opening, centering it perfectly. (the strings will end-up on the interior) As the windshield/weatherstrip is held securely, a helper in the interior, pulls the string, which will then pull the rubber of the weatherstrip over the pinchweld. Continue pulling the rope all the way around, while the helpers outside are putting continuous pressure on the window, and also following the rope with pressure as it pulls the rubber over the pinchweld. As you go around the complete window pulling the rope, the window will gradually set in place. When the rubber is completely over the pinchweld, and the rope is in your hand, a few good smacks with a very flat hand on the outside of the window will set the window down further, and thus give the start of the seal. Next is the moulding. There is a special tool LIKE THIS to open the weatherstrip and insert the moulding, lube is needed here, once you start it's a cinch!
