Stephen, embarrased to say it was purely human error.
Three of us were working on the cars after the annual meet.
We were to check suspension and such on both sides.
I loosened both front wheels and we only ended up pulling off the right side wheel.
We got involved in checking why the tachometer wasn't working and I (we) forgot to re-tighten the left front wheel.
By the time I realized what was happening driving down the road, it was too late.
Thankfully, the tire didn't hit any cars or do any further damage and the car was traveling slow enough to minimize the damage.

So, it was completely avoidable and I learned a valuable lesson that too many cooks can spoil the broth.
Or too many weekend mechanics working on the car doesn't allow for proper doubling checking of the obvious. :oops:

The car is now back in the garage until Springtime.

I collected my damaged parts from the bodyshop.
The LCA and rotor absorbed most of the damage from losing the wheel.
The strut tops were changed out.
I won't know till springtime how much better the car handles.
