Basically the masked areas are too small, compared to OEM.

It's ok. They are done now & look better than they did. Going to run my Enkeis anyway.

Pulled my tail lights last night for more paint prep. Looks pretty good in there. Snapped a couple of pics of the inside rear while I was at it.

So my buddy called me this morning. He was out junkyard hunting & said "Hey, there is one of these old Civics down here, Need anything?" I asked lots of questions, then said, send me a pic of the front bumper.
This is what he sent back!

I about jumped around out of excitement!
This is what he sent me before he left the yard.

I found this old clock on my bookshelf. I bought it at a yard sale or flea market years ago. Never had a use for it so it just sat around. I saw it this morning and noticed how much the profile matched the center gauges.
A little Velcro and I was hooked! It's no Jeco but don't look half bad. Now to put a battery in it and see if it works!

At it again! I picked up a center shift console at the junkyard last week. As you can imagine the shift boot was not up to par. It was torn
in a few places and brittle.
1.jpg
I swung in the local thrift shop last night & picked up this sweet pair of leather pants for $3.75! This should
do the trick.
2.jpg
Having a mom that likes to sew, I thought I'd enlist her help on this one. So we set out to make this happen.
First disassemble the old one to use for a pattern.

Then cut up sweet leather pants!
5.jpg
Sew on antique Singer machine. Red thread for that Type R flair!
6.jpg
And there you have it! New genuine leather boot for $3.75. I still need to tuck the edges and install,
but I'm going to hit the console with some SEM before it goes in to freshen it up.

Got it dyed with SEM today and repainted the silver ring & installed the boot.
Very pleased with this resurrection of junkyard finds!

Got a treasure in the mail today!
Also went to have my glass gauge faces cut.

Last night I re-dyed my gauge housing with my SEM. Man I love that stuff.
Got the glass back from the glass shop today. I like doing most things myself but for $16 I let them handle this job. After a few cut fingers,
I got them put back together and they look absolutely fantastic! Putting the rubber back on the glass was a bit tricky.
The glass looks so much better than that old scratched plastic. I read there were some safety concerns with using glass for the gauges but
I'm not concerned. If I crash hard enough to break them, then I probably got bigger problems than a little broken glass.
Not sure why Honda chose glass for the center gauges and not these two, maybe safety was the concern. As you can see - out of my stash
of gauges, I chose to go with the "simple" speedometer with just the MPH on it. I like how clean it looks compared to the ones marked with
KM/MPH together. It's not original to the car, but at this stage of the game, I think I am throwing that out the window. Does it really matter?
Besides, I haven't put any miles on the car yet so I can just start from here. Now, Just can't wait until my aluminum gauge rings arrive from
over seas. That is really going to set this off! Now to wire up the tachometer. and put these babies in!

Here is the stash I was working with. This turned from project to obsession in a hurry!
