Getting cold already. it's about 20c in southern Ontario, and a bit of rain.
I hope to run some heat out to my garage so I can work through the winter.

Million things, it's going to be a long winter. Bet it gets really cold there!

Oh yeah. You can expect -10C overnight anytime from the end of October, -20c from December, -30c anytime in January and February. Not all the time, but often enough.
It puts a crimp on things.

I got my car this time last year and wasn't prepared for the winter. Didn't get anything done for months. This year I hope to re-do my seats. I answered a local ad for an engine (EB3 - 'running when out of the car'). Was pleasantly surprised to find the engine complete with all the wires etc and the transmission. The guy threw in a pair of seats that were outside. They are junk- tan faded pink, and many, many tears, but will allow me take a seat apart before committing myself.

I hope to refresh the foam in the seats, patch the tears in the vinyl, and redo the seating area. I am thinking of buying an old leather sofa and using it for material. Still researching.

Just got my car back from its valve job. Runs nice. Exhaust doesn't stink anymore.
Another issue has pushed its way to the top of the list. The door doesn't close securely anymore and the door ajar buzzer is always sounding.

Possibly the door silencers have worn out.

I think the transmission is a 5-speed. Not certain, but its oil filler cap doesn't have a dipstick, and it certainly looks like the pictures. Of course, the serial number tag is unreadable.

Winter has caught me with the door lock out of the door and as a result the door is ajar a couple of inches. It will be that way until the weather warms up and I can finish the job without freezing. Is this okay? Will it spring the hinges or something? The door doesn't weigh much.

If it's a 3-door, tie one door to the other internally, and come out the hatch.
Hot air gun and gaffer [duck] tape on the seams could be another option.
I personally would secure the doors to stop ingress of detritus and vermin, also any daylight will warm the air inside a bit.

I am using 5 on Phoenix at present, as it's in for its 9th re-incarnation.
1 for the doors, 2 between wheel arches , pinning the car cover close to the shell
1 around rear latch, hooking onto the bumper, as above
1 around front at grille height, as above.
Previously, because Civic is so small, I have had a ''flappy'' fit, but by perforating the car cover on the arch lips, the straps stop any movement in the cover. It did not need an over-the-roof strap , even in 60mph winds [strong for us].
First frost this morning, but glorious sunshine now.
Anti-freeze to go in Goldie, still on water because of drag-race preparation.
