Un Restoration of known car as Blackie
Quick and dirty method of pulling motor/transmission front end.
don't judge too harshly, The pictures below may contain harmful images.
View at your own risk.
remove exhaust
remove linkages
Or if you dont car cut-em out of the way.
remove the nuts from strut tops
remove bolts from front and rear cross members
cut out front end and your done.
Oh lift body off and roll back.
I used my dolly and put all the real heavy parts in the hatch. My trolly jack ran out of steam.
I had to use a sludge hammer to get the tie rod ends apart. Canadian Rust Sucks.

Too easy for a young guy, but a lot of work for a 46 year old. :?
I was wiped out by the time I got done. The car being in a remote location do not help, I can only take so many tools for the trip. If I forget something like my adapter for my 1/2 Johnson bar I ended up using the saws-all to cut the heat off bolts.
When I started this project even before I had the internet I did not take any pictures, but now during the tear down was the last chance to see what was actually done.

I bought the car about fall of 1998
This car should have never been fixed, too much rust.
I have seen much better cars trashed on this forum and civic1200.com with perfectly good bodies.
This car did not have one bit of it untouched other than the roof by the heat of the cutting torch removing mass areas of rust. I can also use parts myself for my other car like the front cross member, mine is holy, the gas tank is excellent, mine is rusty, front bumper filler panel is mint, mine is rusty and looks like it was dropped and painted anyway by the last owner. The hatch is excellent, mine does not fit and is dented. Needed a black back seat to change my interior over to black.
Like I said in an earlier post, I don't have room for the car and I have been going at it far too long and I am not getting any yonger. When a car is in someone else s garage far away it's difficult to work on. My other 78 is stored in the warehouse at work until this car is gone. To boot my health has not been the greatest. Many time during the parting out and stripping I kept telling my self to just call the wrecker, but I know this car's parts are of value to someone.
I need a crank shaft for a re-build, I gave both my spares away, (what an idiot)
Besides, I am glad it's gone now, most of the good parts have gone to good homes.
I took close up pictures of the cuts and was surprised to see little rust in there. The worst was the front rocker panels at the bottom of the pillars.
I would suggest those with cars in the bad climate get some oil in those rockers.
Last weekend was very busy too, I rented a U-Haul van & took one load of parts to the scrap yard and one load to the transfer station. I can't believe I had so many parts. Even through out a 1947 Shop Smith.
Various parts of the wheel wells were repaired, small holes I put lost of undercoating on Side rocker panels were made from scratch, as you can see the front edge was not finished The floor was coated with Gator Tuff two part truck bed liner. It tough as nails. Corners of the windshield and under the corner of the fender had gone rotten. As you can see it cleaned up nice. I put my seal of tar top coat on. The areas in white were repaired, the ribs from the old floor were welded on the give the new floor strength. This corner also repaired, Typical place to rot. Interior was pained red Nice clean rust free gas tank The rear seat mount on the passenger side was taken from another doner car, The strange bit is that it was shorter then the one I took out of mine, I had to build it up.
The other typical spot to rot out in the front corners of the floor The front seat rails also were cut out of a donor car too. Pillars Gone The End
