Refinished the roof trims - Was fairly simple to do:
1-cleaned the surface real good
2- applied VHT Black Satin dye to the surface
3- used Tamiya modeling tape to mask the outer part of the trim
4- air brushed Tamiya Flat Aluminum paint for the center chrome stripe

I ran into a glitch trying to refinish the tachometer face. The tachometer needle was very difficult to remove from the shaft. So difficult in fact it broke off at the top of the shaft.

I'm still trying to determine if the previous owner of the tachometer modified the tachometer needle. If anyone has a pic of the back of the 1stgen tachometer needle please post it or pm it to me. :dunno

Currently attempting to JB Weld a plastic piece from a pen to the tachometer needle to see if it will work.

Repainted the faded orange on the tachometer face - Next, time to refinish the deluxe gauges :D

Its funny it happened the same to me with my tachometer, maybe its how they all are. I glued mine with crazy glue. and heavent had any problems dont think i will and the best part is that its clear.

The needle you posted looks original, thats how mine was but sorry i didnt take pics

How did you refinish the tachometer  its looks amazing :D what kind of paint did you use? Did you use tape or a small precise brush and steady fingers?

I used masking tape and a powerful 10x magnifier to try to stay in line. The bodyshop was kind enough to mix up a small batch of orange paint.

looking good! You should hit a glass shop and have the lens redone... its funny the center gauges come in glass and the tachometer/speedo are plastic
old skool rules... new skool technology :)
