bumper time!!!

Post by islander »

Here are some pics of the front and back bumpers. The rear bumper has been striped and costumed to fit in nice and snug all that is left to do is a little smoothing out on the filler panel, weld up the holes a little bit of smoothing out being that it started out as a front bumper and had license plat holes. the front one I started today at work since it was a little slow at the shop today. a few rust spots needs to be takin care of.

Wow, a perfect patch. Do you have any pictures of the process? Are they going to be chromed after that? That patch might need no body filler

thanx for the compliment on the patch. no i wont be chroming my bumpers, they are both getting painted to match. i will confess i used a patch out of my old bumper. all i had to do was add a few bends to it to make it fit the corner. it is all welded up now tho and turned out very well. all i have to do is weld up the holes for the bumper mounts in both bumpers. i will get some pics as soon as i get that done.

ran into a bit of a problem this week :( i found out the hard way that a 78' hood does'nt bolt up the same way as my 75' does. It would not be that big a deal if i still had my stock hood..... but i sold it... stupid, stupid me  anyone out there have a spare set of hood hinges i can borrow? in the mean time im working on fabbing up a set. keep you all posted.

The fact that you are painting it by parts makes me want to do the same :) ; no worring on overspray and alot of other things :D .Although i dont think it would work with metalics :?:
