Front spoiler lip

I don`t know what you all call it, but the bodywork done under the front fender, is that and air dam? I really want that. The one on the pic below, is that custom made, or will it be possible to get it somewhere? I figure it`s not a walk in the park to get body work styling for the 1st gen Civics?

Also on this site there is a link to a shop in Canada that makes alot of custom piece's. CVCCx1 on the old civic1200 board was into making things as well...

Personnally I think the airdam spoiler from a Chevette would also retro on easy, and there are a lot of them at junk yards.

Yeah, would be nice to custom make something for yourself :D That`s one of my goals for the next few years. Gonna learn how to make stuff in fiber glas =) Would be great!

Custom is always better......I've thought about cutting a 2002 civic lip, shortening it and bolting it on...s2000 has a nice one to that almost fit's perfect.

Cut in the middle, cut out section, glass together...bolt on

I wanted to get a Kamei air dam for my 78 1200 hatch, and hobbyhorse05 actually has the mould and manufactures them, but the problem is that he says they only fit the 73-77 1200s. I thought the body was the same for all 1200 models, and it was just a few cosmetic things that were changed. Are the front aprons different on the 78-79?

73-77 had a sold one fixed to the chassis, while 78-79 had a removable one. You can see that at the very bottom there's a sporty lip that sticks down. On the earlier fixed its just smooth. I can't imagine that dam being too hard to get to fit the later model...

At least on the CVCCs the "lip" on the bottom of the 78/79 models was a little wider than the earlier cars. A good picture of the stock 1200s can confirm - something where the camera is almost on the ground.

The one on the White car is a reproduction of the Kamei 1200 air dam. The original Kamei was made of a type of dense rubber. The reproduction (as seen on the white car) is in fibreglass. Hobbyhorse05 (whose white car is pictured) has the mould to make these reproductions. As discuseed above they only fit early (1973 - 1976) 1200s. Hobbyhorse05 is in Canberra Australia so shipping could be dear to the UK (large bulky piece)

If you want something more track oriented, a company called Challenge Fibreglass in Melbourne (Australia) has a mould to produce a fairly deep spoiler - this is pictured on the "body kits" page:

Slightly more than 1/2 way down on the left side are two pics which when you mouse over them are shown as "Tims". This is the air dam I am referring to. It was adapted from one made for a Mini sports sedan. We sectioned it and added some material at the top to make it conform better to the Civic.

Here is a well used example on the track at Phillip Island

Again the part would probably not cost too much to have made up, but shipping outside Australia would be costly due to its bulk.
