I had to ask a fellow runner how crazy are we running in this heat!
It’s 29c and feels like 37c. How do you manage. Here is what I did. Grabbed my Nike split racing shorts and a Solomon singlet. For the run of at least 10k I would need water. Crushed ice with filtered tap water to start as it would quickly melt. I also grabbed some electrolyte gummies just in case I felt I needed them. For my head I opted for a reebok visor and a pair of vented radar lok sun glasses.
I wore the running shoes that have a bit more cushion as my legs were a little stiff/cramps along with my red compression sleeves.
My goal, is to get to the beach in Pickering, I would be running in the shade of the trees part way there. But once I am in the open it will be hot running into the sun.
I made it to the beach by pushing through the urge to turnaround because I knew I could get in the water and cool off. Just remember that beach sand gets a into everything so don’t sit down to put your shoes back on or you may get major chaffing where ,,,,, let’s not go there.
Overall it was a good fun run, did not push, and settled in and soaked up the sun and what it threw at me. Beats running in the bush and getting eaten by black flies.
