Working my Way Back

Falling on ice covered snow.

Wow, its been almost a year since i last posted an update. After a long year of physiotherapy I have decided to give it a go at getting back to the Duathlon scene.

I anticipate I will have continued discomfort with my neck, I hope I can work my way back gradually without causing too much stress to my neck that has not fully recovered from injury 16 months ago.

I am confident my biking skills will be up to snuff but I am however unsure  how my neck discs will handle pot holes and bumps in the roads.

In the picture above I had fallen three times, twice while trying to ride on snow covered ice, and once lowing into a snow bank that I could not see because of the blinding snow storm.

Running, thats where I am lacking. My pace has slowly improved from a 6:15 to my best so far 5:39. I have to work hard as I seem to have more bad days than good, and this cold weather is not helping. I hate the treadmill but it is useful for sprint workouts.

I have some weight to loose since I was inactive for so long and never figured I would ever be able to run again. I did some swimming and the weight came off quickly when the exercise was meant to help my shoulder recover from frozen shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis), its a lot easier to put jackets and sweaters on now, but it’s not pain free yet. As long as I keep active I find I can better handle minor pain a discomfort.
I will be posting updates on my progress with the Sufferfest Triathlon trains program.
