I'm just about to purchase a set of konis.
Should I get the koni wet kits, or the shocks?
The wet kits a far more cheaper.
Are there advantage/disadvantages for each?
What do you guys think?
I also want to get a height adjustable coil over kit. Do you guys know where I can get a cheap set, and contact details?
Thanks Mariusz

One other thing I just recently brought a 75 civic 1200, for $AU95. The reason I brought it was that it was completely rust free, which is exactly what I was looking for the past 6 months, for my project.
The thing is that this model seems to be the heaviest of all the models.
I would like to know why this is so, and how can I reduce the weight to match the 73-74?

Who said the 75 is the heaviest??? Whoever it was is full of crap.
A '75 model EB1 is pretty much the same weight as a '74 EB1 (the chances of finding a '73 in Aus are very very small).
Is it a 2 or 3 door? 2-door EB1s were the lightest, followed by 3-door EB1s.

There is a weight table in the thread called
"1751 accord into first gen cvcc"
they include both 1200s and CVCCs

The only 73 model I've had any contact with was my brother's old car. It had 43k original miles on it when he bought it, no rust, perfect body, perfect engine (even the bumper bars were ding free). 10k miles later, there wasn't a single panel intact, motor blew smoke, blown head gasket, leaking exhaust, slipping auto trans. The brakes were probably the only thing that didn't suffer (considering they were crap to start with - no booster).

andrew, what does that have to with koni shocks?
are you saying that'73s are not built well?

Some numbers to look at.
According to "Honda Performance Handbook" by Glenn Marston
Note, these are likely weights for US spec cars!
1200:
'73 2-door 1,536lb
'73 3-door 1,552lb
'74 2-door 1,605lb
'74 3-door 1,621lb
'75-76 2-door 1,683lb
'75-76 3-door 1,716lb
'77 2-door 1,665lb
'77 3-door 1,687lb
'78-79 2-door 1,663lb
'78-79 3-door 1,696lb
Why did I have to get the '76 3 door

150 pounds between the '73 and '75 is acualy quite a bit. what was added? are the eb2/3 heavyer engines?

All the EB engines are basically the same weight. I suspect they have it the wrong way around (though maybe in the States it is correct). I think that if you swap the listed weights for 75-76 and 78-79 it would be closer to being correct (though I could be wrong).
There is very little difference between a '74 and '75 model (in Australia anyway). For Australia, in '77 (and maybe late '76) you see the emergence of side intrusion bars in the doors which add a lot of weight, then in '78 you get intrusion bars in the rear quarters.
As the years passed they added more bits and pieces (retractable belts as opposed to fixed, a few more switches and knobs, different seats, different suspension etc.) but the differences aren't really all that great from one year to the next. There is nothing I can think of that would account for a huge jump in 75, then a reduction in 77 ... unless you guys had those stupid air pumps and other pollution crap in 75-76 only and then they were removed again?
Also looking at those weights, you guys in the US got very heavy cars in all years! According to this, my 77 3-door with goodness knows how much steel rool cage, reinforcing, heavier brakes, suspension, gearbox etc., weighs only 5kg (11lb) more than a standard US 77 3-door!!!

So how about those konis? Any comments?

david, i wasn't making any assertion about 73's being crap, just that my brother has certain talents in the car destruction area, and that unfortunately he honed these talents on a mint civic

thats fine, i just have a '73 that seems to have held up fairly well over the years. through muliple front end collisions and such. the engine is strong as hell and i still plan on getting all the body work done to it. i guess alot of people would consider it totalled(repair would cost more than market value), but screw them. its worth more to me than the market value. i'm not being obsessive(well, mabey a little), i just think that with a few g's i could have a really good, stylin' car and some experience that will come in handy.

That may be true Adrian, but we got those bigass, bogus bumpers that are so effective. Oh, and I almost forgot, airpumps and a bunch of other crap that is useful for getting in the way, and making the cars old before their time. God bless the Beaurocretans.
Before I forget to mention it...Sprinks--stinks.
I don't know how I'd get through life without some a-hole standing behind me with a cattle prod.
Thank God I live in a free country.

I OWN A 1978 HONDA CIVIC AND I HAVE SERIOUSLY STRIPPED OUT THE INTERIOR BUT IT STILL DOESN'T MATCH THE WEIGHT OF MY FRIENDS EARLIER MODE(75 I THINK) THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF IS THE ENGINE AND THE WHEELS WHAT OTHER THINGS COULD I REMOVE OR REPLACE THAT MIGHT GET THE WEIGHT DOWN BY A REASONABLE LEVEL (600-630KG)..

The engines weigh the same, the wheels weigh the same (assuming the same type of wheels). The EB3 bodies are heavier (I assume you're talking 1200s here, not 1500s). There are intrusion bars in the doors and rear quarters plus various other bits of weight added here and there. I think the steering column is a bit beefier, the seats are a little heavier etc etc. It'll be pretty hard to get an EB3 down to 630kg.
