Hi,
I know there has been much talk about trying to get a cd player in an old civic. I am thinking it would be less hassle to just get a shaft mount cassette player, but they seem hard to find these days.
Has anyone recently found a shaft mounted radio cassette receiveer that fits the stock opening without carving? If so Can you tell me what model and where you got it (and how much)?

Brian, what you are looking for is a "Micro Chassis" radio, i have a blaupunkt am/fm cassette digital display unit in my wagon. For my wife's convertible i just picked up an Alpine unit that comes with a external Amplifier for $100.00....Most of these units are quite a few years old, I'm in the audio industry, if i come across one, i'll let u know

Has anyone seen the pioneer/honda am-fm cassette stereo sytem that was a factorry option?I found one this summer at the wreckers,complete and working!The speakers are the coolest!They have both the Honda and Pioneer logos on them.Thet fit up in the rear of the ceiling and clip onto the edge that the headliner tucks behind.I will post a pic next week when I get my film developed.

While we are on this subject, Justin, do you know if it is possible to wire a jack plug into an existing AM/FM Stereo radio to enable you to plug a portable CD unit into it? Can you wire in a 25RMS-50RMS per channel preamp that would allow you to do the same thing?

It's not possible to wire in a jack..unless the deck came factory equiped with it, I know of some pre-amp/eq's that have a high level input(speaker level)and low level(rca) for your deck, and then they have a aux. input for another source.

John, most pre-amp eq's.....are just that a "Pre-amp" they go inline from your source unit to your amp...You can find some eq-boosters, that are 35-50rms, but they are usually a cheap unit, like Kraco or Pyramid..if you can afford it i would do the pre-amp and then a decent low wattage amp..

I might have some old stock on some La sound pre-amp eq's. When they designed them(a few years ago)they rated #1 in Car Audio Mag...I'll check into it and let u know,

I've got the Pioneer speakers in my car. They sound pretty good (for a set of free speakers). They're a little too flat to provide any kind of bass response, but for everything else they're fine. I also just bought an old Pioneer 8 track from Todd- just to keep the nostalgia rolling! If anybody can tell me how the thing was set up, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't know if I'll ever use it, but I would like to know where they put it. Annonymous? You still out there?

Mine is a shaft mount am/fm stereo cassette that fits in the stock hole.I don't know where the 8- track fits.My guess is that it also fits in the stock hole.

The 8-track, fits in the cubby hole(with the mounting kit, that's provided with the 8-track)

I have yet to see one in person(only have the factory options brochure)

Anybody have a lower center console, with a working roll-top door for sale?

By "cubby hole" do you mean the open area at the bottom of the dash, below where the A/C and rear window defrost knobs go?

Also, I'd love a copy of that factory options brochure, Justin. I've never seen one. If you've got a copy shop nearby and a few extra minutes, I'll pay for the production and the mailing costs.
