On the bottom corner of the chrome there are tabs, left side right side. with the hatch open bend the tabs out with a screw driver carefully, on both sides.
The lower area along the painted part of the hatch can be slightly lifted out and slid down towards the lock and removed. Soap might help under the rubber.
The upper has a chrome clip in the top Center can be removed, then each half can be pulled carefully off to the sides for removal.
To re-install be sure to soap as it is difficult assembly, take your time.

It's as TREVORM says.
Bottom strip first, then ease off top parts.
As for removing glass, it's the same as a front screen, if you must take it out.
Otherwise, lift the rubber with cord between it and the panel and mask the rubber off.
This allows the paint to go under the rubber without removing the glass.

Re: removing the stainless trim on the hatch
was able to remove the lowest piece of trim. i dont recall exactly how of course since it was so long ago... I remember that it wasnt super easy, and dish soap and a credit card came in handy for putting it back together to get the trim to slip back under the rubber seal. i didnt really attempt the other trim after having such a time with the bottom piece.
