Bumper Mod |
This modification will pull the bumper
in closer to the body. |
|
Early 74-77 Bumpers |
|
On
my early ones, unbolt the complete bumper assembly from the
car, removed the rebar and rubber spacers, welded nuts in
the center hole location of the mount, and then re-fit the
bumper back on with bolts (and washers to space it out a
little) you can then either fit the bumper rubber caps back
on, or go with caps over the holes. Metal Knock Out Fillers |
|
78-79 Bumpers |
|
This modification for sucking in the bumper
closer it is a little easier to do than the earlier models.
Simply drill a hole in the bumper absorber and put a bolt in
after you have made the adjustment in closer to the body.
Caution, the absorber is under pressure, an oil will spray
out and possibly get in you eyes, Wear safety goggles or use
a face shield for protection. |

Bumper Swap |
This modification will allow you to
swap a 78-79 bumper for an all chrome one. |
This mod is fairly simple to do as well. To use the older
76-77 bumper you need to weld metal plates across the bumper
mounts, place the bumper against the mounts and center them
on the plates and drill holes through the bumper mount
holes. Put bolts in and your done.
I mounted mine by bolting a 1-1/2x3 steel tube between
the two bumper mounts and then drilled through them to mount
the bumper on. |
