A free flowing head also greatly improves performance by smoothing out the intake and exhaust ports giving the head improved flow characteristics. Valve seat enlargement is one improvement. Intake and exhaust ports can be enlarged but not hogged out like the English Tunnel as power will be sacrificed. Ports and chambers can be polished for improved flow and the size and shape is open for discussion and advise should be obtained from the professional or experienced engine builder of these cars.
A quick and cheap modification is to had the cylinder head decked by removing a small amount say; 0.010in. Your compression ratio will increase slightly, don't over do it as the milling will alter your timing for every bit taken off.
The EB3 head was introduced in 1978 with larger valves and
improved intake and exhaust ports with deeper combustion chamber and domed
pistons to match the larger chamber. The EB3 cylinder head can be used on the
EB2 block as long as you use the EB3 pistons with it. If you don't use the EB3
pistons the compression will be too low. The EB3 head will give you a greater
increase in power when combined with a better carburetor, exhaust or valve
train.
