Additional Information
|
-73-79 Chassis code was designated SB
-74-77 1200: EB2 motor had 2mm larger bore increasing displacement and power slightly
-78-79 1200: The EB3 was very different from the previous years. The most notable
differences were the domed pistons and the new head (dished combustion chamber and larger
valves).
-75 CVCC: introduced as a way around stricter emissions
-76-79 CVCC: engine was revised internally, producing slightly more power and smoother
running
-The 75-79 CVCC was the only first gen engine equipped with a 5spd transmission (the 1200
would not be able to pull the gear ratio properly) US MARKETS ONLY.
In non US markets the 78-79 1200's could be had equipped with a 5spd
trans. (This model had the deluxe gauges, but did not have the wood
wheel or wood shift knob). of course the Speciail X which also had the
1200 and a 5spd.
-The CVCC's were longer in the nose to accommodate the slightly larger motor (2.17"
to be exact)
-73-79 Civics did not have trim level specifications but were differentiated by their
motor types
